Introduction
The restoration of a Weimar Republic villa presented us with the task of preserving historic qualities while meeting today's comfort requirements. The result is a dialogue between old and new.

Context
The 1928 villa had been modified several times in the post-war years. Historic elements like stucco ceilings and parquet floors were partially preserved, partially covered. The new use as a single-family home required a fundamental spatial reorganization.

Concept
Our concept clearly distinguishes between preservation and addition. Historic spaces were uncovered and restored. New functions like kitchen and bathrooms received an independent, contemporary design that formally sets itself apart from the existing structure.

Implementation
The technical renovation included interior energy upgrades to preserve the listed facade. New installations consist of steel and glass and are legible as inserted furniture pieces.
