Glass Loft Berlin demonstrates how historic industrial architecture and contemporary workspaces can come together. In a former machine factory, flexible office spaces spanning 2,400 square meters were created for a technology company.
The listed hall had stood empty for years. The steel construction and characteristic shed roofs were to be preserved and showcased. At the same time, use as a headquarters required high standards for acoustics, climate control, and technology.
The concept preserves the open hall character and precisely inserts new elements: freestanding boxes made of perforated steel serve as meeting rooms and retreats. The existing steel structure was renovated and supplemented with a new, thermally separated facade.
The new installations are deliberately conceived as furniture – reversible and independent of the historic structure. Building technology was visibly integrated into the shed roofs. Industrial materials such as raw steel and exposed concrete dominate the design.
