Wood House Berlin
A two-storey single-family house in Berlin designed and realized by the architects themselves. The project focuses on sustainable timber construction and represents a modern, environmentally conscious living concept.
Wood House Berlin is a self-planned and realized two-storey family home, designed by architects Friederike and Aiko Domke. The project demonstrates their commitment to sustainable timber construction and modern residential design.
Located in Berlin, the house showcases how contemporary architecture can embrace sustainable materials without compromising on comfort or aesthetics. The timber construction is visible throughout, creating warm and inviting interiors while meeting high standards of energy efficiency.
The design features clean lines, large window surfaces for abundant natural light, and an open floor plan. A mono-pitch roof with subtle inclination gives the building its distinctive silhouette. Interior spaces flow seamlessly, with exposed pine wood walls and ceilings creating a cohesive material language.
The construction primarily uses timber, reflected in the visible wood surfaces and structural elements. The exterior features horizontal larch cladding that weathers naturally over time. Inside, oak hardwood floors, a floating cantilever staircase, and carefully detailed joinery demonstrate craftsmanship throughout.
